In a clear bid to preempt the opposition Congress and the anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare’s sit-in against the Land Ordinance from becoming a full blown street protest, the government is all set to bring in a significant change in the Land Acqusition Act.The amendment will require that the consent of 70 per cent of the farmers whose land is being acquired would be mandatory before the acquisition.
